The Story Behind Our Name
In the stone-paved streets of Beyoğlu, there once stood a small but deeply rooted shop, run by a craftsman who had learned the art of butchery from Greek, Armenian, and Jewish masters: Akdeniz Butcher… Each morning, Kasap Güzel would open his shop early and carry out his work with care, dignity, and quiet devotion.
His curly-haired grandson, who spent holidays by his side, never stepped behind the butcher’s counter. He never held a knife or a cleaver.
His grandfather didn’t want him to see blood, didn’t want the smell of meat on his hands — he wanted him to grow up with books, to carve his own path. “Because his uncle was Yahya Arikan, the founder of modern accounting in our country.”
So, the boy stood at the cash register. He learned to operate the till, count money, and manage the books.
Over time, that boy came to understand the rhythms of business and the logic of trade at an early age.
Years passed. And the boy who grew up without ever cutting meat became a consultant who embraced tax, accounting, and independent audit.
Today, through the firm he founded in the Netherlands — Akdeniz Consulting — he continues to carry his grandfather’s name and work ethic forward.
